Willian’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season, but he has reportedly played his final game for Chelsea already. All signs point to him signing with Arsenal, perhaps as soon as this week.
As training resumed on Wednesday ahead of this weekend’s Champions League exercise, he was not seen in any of the photos or videos posted by Chelsea official from training, and his social media has been quiet as well. He could of course just be (still) injured, but as that mystery injury lingers into a third week, the more it looks like a not very creative excuse to cover for what the real reason for his absence may be.
Having seen Pedro pick up a painful injury in Chelsea’s last match, Willian will surely think twice about putting his body on the line for the Blues, especially as Arsenal seem willing to meet his demands of a three-year deal at age 32, possibly with a hefty wage packet as well.
It’s probably just a matter of time before this becomes official. It’s just business.
Arsenal are still pushing to sign Willian as a free agent. Talks on with the player and his agents about salary. Philippe Coutinho has been offered days ago but there’s nothing advanced atm. ⚪️ #AFC #transfers https://t.co/hgNJBCwyRV
