Borussia Mönchengladbach center back Matthias Ginter has become regarded as one of the best defenders in the Bundesliga, and thus, he’s been generating some transfer market interest, including from Chelsea, a team that could certainly use a good center back.
But even if that interest has given rise to some truly creative rumor-mongering — Christensen plus cash swap! — Ginter himself isn’t really looking to leave the team he’s called home for the past three seasons, especially after securing Champions League football for only the third time in club history, and the first since 2016.
In fact, the 26-year-old told kicker magazine the other day that he’s “definitely” staying.
“I’m definitely staying in Gladbach. Of course I heard of the enquiries and was flattered by this attention, but I’ve said often enough how good things are for me in Gladbach.”
“This team has huge potential. And the coach gives us a great deal of added value. With the amazing fans and surroundings here, this club is currently in the process of building something. I share these big ambitions and I also have a contract here.”

Sounds like Ginter’s quite happy with literally every aspect of his professional life in Mönchengladbach. That’s not a definitely-maybe. That’s a definitely-definitely. The team aren’t looking to sell either, so we can safely scratch this possibility off the list.
Oh well.
