As Chelsea’s move for Ben Chilwell nears completion — supposedly — the matching outgoing move is starting to make some headway as well.
According to Italy’s Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness), Inter Milan’s move for Emerson Palmieri is “well underway” after deciding that the 26-year-old is the “chosen one” at left back. That’s in spite of Antonio Conte’s future being thrown into fresh doubt after their 3-2 loss to Sevilla in Friday’s Europa League final. It’s been assumed that Conte was pushing the team to make a move for his former wing-back signing at Chelsea, but perhaps he fits into the club’s plans as well.
As usual, the negotiations are centered around a transfer fee, with Chelsea looking for €30m and Inter hoping to get a deal done around €20m. So how about €25m and a bag of balls? As long as there are no words like “loan” or “option” involved, we should be good.
