Familiar face in the Chelsea Loan Army

Izzy Brown once made headlines by becoming the second youngest player in Premier League history (at the age of 16 years, 117 days), soon after which he made headlines by transferring from West Bromwich Albion to Chelsea ... where he was promptly shoveled off to the youth team and then to the Loan Army.

While he did make his Blues debut on the final day of the 2014-15 season, ironically by coming on as a substitute against West Brom, he has since been shuttling around England, with a brief detour to Vitesse in the Netherlands. In the last four years, he’s played on loan for Rotherham United, Huddersfield town, Brighton & Hove Albion, Leeds United, and Luton Town — impressing at most, but also having to deal with a couple big injuries, including an ACL in January 2018 while at Brighton.

It was a similar story at Luton Town in the Championship last season, where he was one of the leaders in “chances created per-90” in the league, but only made 28 appearances thanks to hamstring and Achilles injuries. He still played a major part in the Hatters avoiding relegation, which has generated plenty of loan interest in him this summer as well.

And according to the Yorkshire Examiner, Sheffield Wednesday have won out in that race, with the 23-year-old undergoing a medical on Wednesday night and expected to be announced on Thursday.

With just one year left on his Chelsea contract, Izzy would presumably also agree an extension before heading out.
