Young Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher, in just his first season in senior football, certainly impressed at both Charlton Athletic and Swansea City in the Championship (47 total appearances), and he is now subject of heavy interest from several Premier League clubs, including Aston Villa and Leeds United.
But before his next loan, Chelsea will try to tie him down with a new contract, according to a report from the Daily Mail. This is par for the course from the Blues, agreeing an extension before finalizing a loan, just as we’ve also seen in the most recently announced moves, for Trevoh Chalobah and Ike Ugbo.
In Gallagher’s case, the matter might be more urgent since he has only two years left on his current current, and he’s emerged as one of the most promising midfielders of his youth generation. Surely, it’s only a matter of time before the 20-year-old gets a shot at making the Chelsea first-team, even!
