After two solid seasons on loan in the Championship, young Chelsea midfielder (and defender) Trevoh Chalobah is stepping up and out of his comfort zone with a loan to French Ligue 1 team FC Lorient. The newly promoted side announced their new arrival this morning, though he had been spotted at their training prior to that as well.

Having just turned 21 last month, the younger of the Chalobahs collected 90 appearances for Ipswich Town and Huddersfield Town in the last two seasons and is now looking forward to experiencing a new challenge and a new football culture.
He also signed a new three-year Chelsea contract prior to heading out.
“I am delighted to join FC Lorient today. The prospect of evolving at the highest French level and discovering a new culture convinced me. The FCL is a recognized club and the challenge proposed by the leaders of Lorient is attractive. I can’t wait to start this new adventure in my new colors”.

It’s a similar move to what older brother Nathaniel tried with Napoli back in 2015-16, though hopefully Trevoh will see a bit more action than the now Watford midfielder. Lorient begin their new season next weekend already!
Good luck, big man!
