Chelsea are exploring the possibility of adding some defensive help this summer as well, not just attacking, and Declan Rice is said to be quite high on that shortlist, perhaps even very near the top. The former Chelsea trainee is on the verge of becoming a truly excellent player, so there’s still time to rescue him from the clutches of West Ham and bring him back home.
Unfortunately, West Ham reportedly remain adamant that no business will happen under £80m. That’s the latest update from the Times, which follows quickly debunked rumors from early this week about a £50m Chelsea bid — which is quite a lot, to be sure, but still a significant discount of the Hammers’ asking price.
The Times’ report also adds that West Ham are not interested in reducing price by way or a player exchange, having already rejected overtures about Michy Batshuayi and Ross Barkley.
Just another stick situation for Granvskaia to sort out then!
On the plus side, as least Chelsea legend old and future are doing while on vacation.
