In classic style, here’s Sky Sports breaking an at least two-month-old rumor: Chelsea “have expressed interest” in signing Nicolás Tagliafico.
Welcome to May and March, Sky Sports! There’s been plenty of time for others to join, even, including Atlético Madrid (July) and Leicester City (June). We’re only missing a story from April, though if I looked a bit longer than two seconds, I could probably find one.
The point is, this is hardly a new story. But if we want to give credit to Sky, I suppose we could say that maybe Chelsea are turning attentions back to Tagliafico, who seems to be low-key agitating for a big move (or a new contract) at age 27. The Argentina international made the move to Europa at a later age, and is now halfway through his 4.5-year with the Eredivisie champions.
Previous stories put Tagliafico’s price tag at a reasonable €25m, and while Sergio Reguilón is also available around that price, he’s probably even more in demand.
Chelsea do have options however, should we choose not to break the bank for Ben Chilwell.
