Chelsea left back Emerson Palmieri’s lack of playing time this season, combined with his ties to Italian football, is making him a potential target for several teams in Serie A, including Inter Milan, where a reunion would be possible with former Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte, who signed Emerson for the Blues in the first place.
That speculation steps up a level in the latest report from La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness), who claim that Emerson has not only become Inter Milan’s sole transfer target for the left side of their defence, but he’s “already said yes” to the dress.
All Inter are waiting for now is the “nest moment” to approach Chelsea with an offer, which Chelsea will be hoping is a bit more than the €25m previous mooted for the the 25-year-old.
Inter have recently added a pretty good wing-back in Achraf Hakimi, who was reportedly a Chelsea target before moving to Italy. But Hakimi is primarily a right-sided player (sorry, Victor Moses), which could leave room for Emerson to join as well, to help Conte put Inter back in the fight for national and continental glory.
Now it is all on the hands of the football suits. Inter Milan CEO Giuseppe Marotta, who recently denied rumours claiming that he was already negotiating with Chelsea, will have to be the one making the first move.
