Another day, another juicy Kai Havertz morsel. Hope you brought your bib.

The highly coveted 21-year-old was reportedly set for showdown talks with his current club, Bayer Leverkusen this week following the conclusion of the German football season over the weekend.

Rumors yesterday claimed that the outcome of these talks will be Havertz making it clear that he wants to leave. Rumors today claim that the outcome of these talks has been Havertz making it clear that he wants to leave. I don’t know what rumors tomorrow will claim about Havertz making it clear that he wants to leave, but the situation is evolving along very nicely indeed and soon, we’ll be walking on land on our flippers.

It’s unclear if Bild’s report actually entails an official transfer request, which could be helpful given Leverkusen’s stance of hoping to hold on but willing to let go for the right price — which may be a bit too rich at €100m even for Chelsea’s wallet. Previously, Chelsea were reportedly willing to go as high as €80m, and a transfer request just might us that discount ... or at least an installment plan, which is apparently something we’d also be cool with.

There’s of course the question of the “other team” as well, a.k.a. Real Madrid, who were said to be Kai’s preferred choice before additional claims said that he (also?) finds Chelsea “appealing”. Bild add that Real would need to sell a few players to afford Havertz however, and, like Bayern Munich, would rather wait until next summer, which should give Chelsea the opening we’d need to get a deal done.

So, the question is, what are we waiting for? Get it done!
