Various reports out of Italy a few days ago claimed that Inter Milan “have started talks” with Chelsea for Emerson Palmieri, looking to reunite him with former Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte, during whose tenure the wing-back was signed by the Blues in January 2018.
But according to Inter Milan CEO Beppe Marotta, those reports are rather wide of the mark, at least for now.
“We have to live with the games and the transfer market. I understand the questions about the market, but I’m saying that there was no contact and we didn’t start any negotiations for Emerson Palmieri. We are making some evaluations, but the most important thing to think about is this season”

While Marotta obviously doesn’t rule out a future move for the 25-year-old, whose start in the FA Cup quarterfinal last weekend was his first Chelsea appearance since mid-January, it may be just a bit too premature to think his reunion with Conte is a done deal or a foregone conclusion.
