Chelsea have been linked to several left backs in recent months, but the consensus favorite has been Ben Chilwell — or would be, if it were not for his exorbitant price tag (Though now that Leicester City bottled their Champions League qualification and finished only fifth, we might have a shot?)
Regardless, it’s likely that Chelsea will pursue others for the position, with Alex Telles’ name being floated in the rumor mill once again. According to Spain’s Diario AS however, Chelsea are set to actually make a serious bid for Getafe’s Marc Cucurella instead.

The 22-year-old has been linked to the Blues before, but now Chelsea are apparently ready to make a €30m bid, with Cucurella’s work-rate and versatility said to be highly-desirable traits sought after by the Chelsea manager.
A Barcelona youth-product, Cucurella started off as a left back, but has transitioned to a defensive-minded left winger in recent seasons. This does make this potential transfer slightly perplexing, but perhaps Lampard sees certain qualities in Cucurella which would help him play as a fullback in the current Chelsea system.
Cucurella was on loan at Getafe from Barcelona for the season, which was eventually converted into a transfer — with a 10% sell-on clause. It’s worth noting that Kenedy was also on loan at Getafe this past season, and competing for the same position. Cucurella won that contest handily, but perhaps the Blues can use Kenedy as a makeweight in a potential deal?
