Alongside galacticos like Kai Havetz and Jan Oblak, Chelsea also have been keeping a close eye on promising youngsters who can be bought on the cheap and have the potential to become superstars themselves someday.
The latest to join that list is Lazar Samardžić of Hertha Berlin. The 18-year-old is one of the most talented youngsters in Germany right now — which is saying something — with clubs like Barcelona, Juventus and AC Milan monitoring his progress. According to BILD (via Sport Witness) however, Samardžić’s entourage are “said to have received an offer” from none other than Chelsea.

The Germany U19 international has made 25 appearances across the youth as well as senior levels this season and has 16 goals and 10 assists to show for it. Primarily an attacking midfielder, he can also play on the wing or in deeper roles.
Samardžić’s current contract expires in 2022, which means it’s decision time for him and his current club. Unfortunately for Hertha, the youngster may be pushing for a move and some senior minutes, according to Kicker. While that may not be immediately be available at Chelsea, we could certainly arrange a quality loan move for him. Samardžić is represented by Marko Naletilić, who also represents former Chelsea loanee, and current Atalanta star Mario Pašalić.
You can never have too much talent in the system. If there’s a possibility that Chelsea could sign Samardžić’s now, we should absolutely take that chance.
