Chelsea have been linked to a number of youngsters in the past few months, from the likes of Angel Gomes and Adam Hložek to Xavier Mbuyamba and Aaron Hickey. The latest to join the list is Nick Breitenbücher of Hoffenheim.
Chelsea and Liverpool are apparently two of the clubs interested in the Germany U-17 winger’s services. The 17-year-old has only made his debut for Hoffenheim’s U-17 team this season, but has already set the U-17 Bundesliga on fire.
Told that Liverpool and Chelsea are interested in signing Germany Under-17 forward Nick Breitenbücher from Hoffenheim— Ed Aarons (@ed_aarons) June 30, 2020
Playing primarily as a left winger and at times, a right winger, Nick Breitenbücher has 13 goals and 3 assists in just 16 appearances this season. The youngster has contributed with a goal or an assist every 62 minutes on average, which are phenomenal numbers at any level.
The player’s contract expires in 2022 and this could be the golden opportunity for Hoffenheim to cash in, should Breitenbücher express a desire to leave.
Chelsea should have no problems in accommodating the 17-year-old since several Loan Army stars are on the older side now and seeking moves away, with Mario Pašalić and Nathan having already transferred to other clubs.
Chelsea have to consider not just short-term goals, but also have a long-term vision for the years to come, and signing talented players like Breitenbücher could be an integral part of that.
