Willian has turned into one of the most prolific players for Chelsea since the Restart, with a return of four goals and three assists in eight matches.
It is not unusual to see players perform well whenever they are looking for a new contract from their club. But Chelsea are still not convinced enough to upgrade the two-year proposal that’s been tabled to the three-year deal that he’s fixated on. According to UOL, that means Willian’s return to Stamford Bridge next season is “not a possibility”, which has been the situation for a while now.
That said, Willian is reportedly keeping his options open, which could include staying if Chelsea were to change our minds. However, extending a 31-year-old for three years seems like a terrible idea.
While there have been enquiries on Willian’s availability, UOL claim that no official proposals have arrived yet. Either way, it seems likely that he will wait until the season is over, at which point his temporary contract extension with Chelsea will expire, to make a decision.
