Inter Milan’s interest in Emerson Palmieri is well known, with the Serie A club reportedly just waiting for the right time to make an official approach. Emerson is said to be also interested in a return to Italy — although he has denied such claims before — after falling out of contention at Chelsea.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sempre Inter), that approach is getting closer as the Nerazzurri have now agreed personal terms with the 25-year-old left back. Inter are apparently happy to pay Chelsea’s supposed asking price of €20m, which is a fair deal considering that Inter bought Real Madrid’s Achraf Hakimi for twice that amount just a few weeks ago.
The same outlet also claims that Inter are monitoring the situation of N’Golo Kanté, who they claim is “not-not for sale” thanks to his injury issues and unsuitability for Frank Lampard’s tactical system — which of course makes no sense since the reason Kanté’s injured again is that Lampard played him in every single minute of every single game since the Restart.
But Conte wants a defensive-minded midfield signing, and talks over signing Sandro Tonali have hit a standstill, so it’s no wonder rumors have turned his attention to the player with whom he won the Premier League trophy in 2017.
However, with Jorginho already looking likely to leave Chelsea when the transfer window opens, it’s incredibly unlikely that the Blues will let a “happy-at-Chelsea” Kanté depart as well, so Inter Milan and Antonio Conte will have to try their luck elsewhere.
