Timo Werner rejects Liverpool and Leipzig, set to sign with Chelsea — reports

TRANSFER HAMMER

A few days ago, RB Leipzig head coach Julian Nagelsmann issued a challenge for Timo Werner to make up his mind. Stay, or go, just make a call.

For those interested in the 24-year-old goal machine, the challenge is similar. His contract has a €55m buyout (until June 15). RB Leipzig are unwilling to deal otherwise. Activate or not, just make a call.

According to Bild Sport, the answer to the first challenge is GO. The answer to the second? Also GO ... from Chelsea!

BOOM. “Transfer hammer!”

The report is couched in the usual probabilities, the coulds and the shoulds, but it does fit with the recent narrative of Chelsea re-entering the conversation around the striker who seemed set for Liverpool not too long ago. The Blues are looking to make a splash or two this summer, taking advantage of the club’s relatively good financial situation amid the pandemic.

Bild Sport claim that Werner’s rejected the Premier League champions-elect, and is ready to sign a five-year deal with Chelsea at over €10m a pop. GET IN.

How much should we trust this? As the used to say on the X-Files, I want to believe...

UPDATE: IT’S HAPPENNNNING! (?)
