Chelsea are always looking to invest in youth, and that should be especially true these days, given the Youth Revolution™ as well as the current economic climate that will make it even more imperative for clubs to find value in the transfer market.
One such player could be Kaio Jorge of Santos FC in Brazil. The teenager who turned 18 in January, has six top-flight appearances and one senior goal to his name, but his level of play is already being noticed by big European clubs. According to Kicker, Chelsea and Juventus have expressed interest, though it’s Bayer Leverkusen who are actively courting him at the moment.
Kaio was Brazil’s top scorer at the recent U-17 World Cup with five goals. His current contract expires in December 2021, which could make him a viable target in the upcoming market.
Slightly closer to home, Chelsea have also been linked with a move for Inter Milan centre back Lorenzo Pirola. The 18-year-old has apparent interest from the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City, Borussia Dortmund and ... Pescara of the Serie B, but his contract, which runs through 2025, will make it difficult for any interested club to complete a move.
Although he hasn’t made any senior appearances yet, Antonio Conte supposedly rates him quite highly. He has been training with the first-team and has made the bench a handful of times. Inter are apparently offering to send Pirola on a two-year loan to Hellas Verona in order to bring down the price of Marash Kumbulla — who has been linked with Chelsea as well.
