Paris Saint-Germain have been in the lead for Alex Telles’ signature for quite some time, with some recent reports even claiming that a deal has been completed. But as we’ve seen countless times in the past, a transfer is never complete until someone signs on the dotted line, and as per a report from Porto-based outlet O Jogo (via Culture PSG), there is every possibility that history could repeat itself.

According to the report, another club have matched the €25m bid that was reportedly accepted from PSG. While the particular club’s name has not been revealed, there is a strong suggestion that the name begins with ‘Ch’ and ends in ‘elsea’, thanks to our long-standing interest in the left back — or we’re just being used to drive up the price at the last minute.

On a similar note, Tuttosport (via Le 10 Sport) go as far as to claim that Chelsea are now in the driver’s seat for Telles’ signature. That sounds a bit too hopeful, and the sourcing isn’t exactly great, but it does fit with the changing narrative.

While Porto have rejected offers north of €30m for Telles in the past, it’s expected that they will let the 27-year-old leave for slightly less thanks to the current economic climate.

With the two bids equal in magnitude, it is now up to Telles to make the decision, taking all the financial and sporting considerations into account. He is expected to make a final decision before the end of July, so you know ... no rush now.
