Not the youngsters we get

Chelsea have been linked to a host of youngsters in recent weeks, including Nnamdi Collins of Borussia Dortmund and Mo Sankoh of Stoke City, with the Blues hoping to capitalize on the financial advantage in snapping up talented young players early on. However, it appears that neither of the two players are willing to move this summer and want to continue their development at their current clubs.

In the case of 16-year-old Collins, it appears that the Germany U16 captain has signed a new long-term professional contract that will extend his stay at BVB beyond 2021, as per reports from BILD and Sport1 (via BVB Buzz). Dortmund certainly know about the sky-high potential of the centre back.

And while Chelsea’s youth revolution has only just began, Dortmund have been doing that for ages now, which makes it understandable that Collins would see no reason to switch clubs. Dortmund have apparently even guaranteed that he will be a part of the first-team from 2021.

A similar situation is set to play out with Mohamed Sankoh, as per Stoke Sentinel. Despite interest from the likes of Everton, Atlético Madrid and Celtic in addition to Chelsea, the 16-year-old is targeting the Stoke City senior team next season.

Just like Collins, Sankoh is also highly rated, and rightly so. He’s been playing for Stoke’s U18s already, and won the U17 European Championship with the Netherlands last year.

While Chelsea monitor numerous youth prospects year-round, and are likely doing so even at this moment — ed.note: and are often used as bait in contract negotiations; you’re welcome, boys! — it appears that Collins and Sankoh will not be joining.
