Juventus ‘always’ interested in Emerson except right now, claims agent

Chelsea left back Emerson may have been born in Brazil, but he has strong professional ties to his adopted country of Italy. He rose to prominence at AS Roma, earning call-ups to the national team (he has 7 caps for Italy now) as well as a big-money move to Chelsea. The Serie A remembers him well.

His time at Chelsea has seen its fair share of ups and downs, as he’s battled injuries and poor form at times. He had a good run under Maurizio Sarri for a while though, which is yet another reason why the recent Juventus rumors couldn’t be dismissed too easily.

Emerson himself has tried, but his agent knows better than to shut any doors definitively.

“There have always been contacts. Juve have always shown interest, but at the moment we have no news.

“[Everything’s stopped] at the moment.”

Emerson hasn’t really justified all this supposed interest in him just yet, and in a way, he’s still trading on his breakout season at Roma in 2016-17, which remains the only 30-appearance season of his career as well.

With two years left on his Chelsea contract, it certainly wouldn’t be unreasonable to ask some serious questions about his long-term future at the club, especially with the Blues reportedly targeting several left backs in the upcoming transfer window.
