Chelsea back in the hunt for FC Porto’s Alex Telles — report

Hope not lost

According to Portuguese newspaper Jornal de Notícias (via Sport Witness), Chelsea have not yet dropped out of the chase for Alex Telles.

The last update we heard on the FC Porto left back had La Liga’s Sevilla and the Bundesliga’s RB Leipzig joining Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain in the race for his signature. But not much has happened in the two weeks since, despite earlier claims that he was quite close to joining PSG.

Jornal de Notícias claims that PSG have indeed gone a step further than all the others by contacting Telles’ new agent, Pini Zahavi. However, hope is not yet lost for everyone else.

PSG are apparently not keen on paying €30m for Telles, which is €10m less than his release clause. PSG believe this to be an “excessive” fee for a player with only one year left on his contract, and they’re probably right, especially in the current economic conditions.

Sounds like Zahavi has some work to do to live up to his billing as a super-agent and maximize the offers to his newest client.
