The prospect of Manuel Neuer leaving Bayern Munich because of a contract dispute was unlikely to say the least, even if the rumor mill would’ve wanted us to believe otherwise. Either way, that nonsense speculation can now be fully put to bed.
The veteran goalkeeper put pen to paper on a new three-year deal with Bayern today, extending his stay a the club to 2023 after two parties compromised on the length of the new contract. Neuer had initially wanted five years while the team were only offering two — the negotiations over that manifested in said transfer rumors, as they often do.
Even getting three years at 34 is a strong accomplishment for Neuer and his representatives, especially with 23-year-old Alexander Nübel knocking on the door.

So, no Neuer for Chelsea. Not that it was ever going to happen.
But hey, at least we’ve got Wilfredo Caballero for one more season! Hooray!
