The “story of a wedding that has a great chance moving forward”, writes a Google Translated Oracle of Sarri Napoli in his latest about the Dries Mertens situation down yonder in fair Campania.
Or to put in more succinctly, Alfredo Pedullà reports that Dries Mertens is set to stay in Naples, where he is “loved as a true idol” and will be even more so when he breaks Marek Hamšík’s all-time club goalscoring record either later this season when Serie A restarts or, should he finally renew his contract, next season.
The report calls the last few days a “turning point” in this saga, with Mertens deciding to stay despite a strong and concrete offer from Inter Milan and plenty of reported interest from Chelsea. He’s apparently found Napoli’s latest offer acceptable (€4m annual salary, plus goal bonuses) and it’s “almost definitive” that he will sign on the dotted line.
“It would be surprising if the scenario changes again” concludes the report, and so we can probably move on as well.
Next!
