Inter Milan add Chelsea target Moussa Dembélé to transfer shortlist — report

It is a cycle

According to Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport (via Sempre Inter), Inter Milan are interested in Lyon striker Moussa Dembélé, who’s usually in the discussion as one of Chelsea’s primary targets at center forward.

Inter’s interest in Dembélé stems from the probable, if not yet imminent departure of Lautaro Martínez to Barcelona, in which a replacement will be needed for the 22-year-old — or perhaps two since Lautaro has been quite good indeed for Antonio Conte’s team.

The Nerazzuri have been linked with Chelsea backup Olivier Giroud and have been making advances on Napoli’s Dries Mertens as well, who is also on Chelsea’s shortlist, just as Dembélé. (Ed.note: the rumor mill must explore all possible permutations!)

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas is expected to be forced into selling some of his best players, including Dembélé, to offset the financial losses caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the cancellation of the 2019-20 Ligue 1 season and subsequent failure to qualify for the Champions League. That’s good news for all interested parties. Let the bidding begin!
