Stade Rennais latest to join chase for former Chelsea winger Jérémie Boga — reports

So many suitors!

According to report from L’Équipe and Foot Mercato (via Get French Football News), Ligue 1 club Rennes are the latest team to join a host of other suitors for former Chelsea winger Jérémie Boga, currently playing at Italian outfit Sassuolo.

While the winger has not been part of Chelsea since his departure to the Serie A in 2018, our €15m buyback clause is still active — and it’s still a bargain. Therefore, we’re hoping that any team interested in the 23-year-old would have to deal with the Blues as well.

Rennes’ future sporting director Florian Maurice has already gotten a head start on his new job by reportedly contacting Boga’s entourage about a potential return to his home country. But this won’t be an easy operation for anyone involved.

The current list of potential Boga suitors includes clubs all over Europe. In Spain, Sevilla and Barcelona were reportedly interested, with the latter making enquiries a few weeks ago. Serie A clubs AS Roma (who have also been linked with veteran Chelsea winger Pedro), Atalanta and Napoli are also ready to join the chase. And in Germany, Borussia Dortmund appeared keen on his talents.

It’s a win-win situation for Sassuolo and Boga, but could be a winning situation for Chelsea as well, if we play our cards right — either by activating the buyback and selling on, or bringing Boga back to the Bridge.

Decisions, decisions...
