Miralem Pjanić will turn 31 in two weeks. For his birthday, his current club would like to gift him a big fat boot out of the Delle Alpi (or whatever their new digs are called). Happy birthday, buddy!
Even though Pjanić still has three years left on his contract — or perhaps precisely because of that — the Old Lady are looking for a change of pace in central midfield. So far, they’re finding no takers.
But they’re evidently working hard and are apparently hoping to get some action from Barcelona, PSG, or Chelsea — so claims the latest report from Gianluca Di Marzio for Sky Italia (via Football Italia).
Unfortunately for Sarri’s crew, Barcelona are having trouble convincing Arthur Melo to join the swap party — like Zoom, it’s the new hotness in these coronavirus times — so even though Pjanić has reportedly agreed personal terms with Barca, the transfer may not happen.
So Juve are looking for alternative options, and alternative swaps. PSG’s Leandro Paredes, once linked with Chelsea as well, is supposedly an option, though obviously the preference for Sarri would be Jorginho.
We know Jorginho’s agent likes to keep Juventus keen, even if his main man usually makes all the right noises as far as his Chelsea future’s concerned. But the Blues’ midfield is rather crowded, and it would not be surprising to see someone leave after the season’s concluded in some way. Could it be Jorginho? He may be the vice-captain and a Lampard favorite, but it’s certainly not something we can rule out with absolute certainty...
