Free agents are expected to be hot commodity once the transfer window opens due to the financial impact caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Chelsea’s very own Pedro is certainly in-demand, with links to Roma, Lazio and Newcastle United, and now Real Betis as well.
According to Diario Sport (via Sports Mole) and Estadio Deportivo, Real Betis have not only joined the race, but have already contacted Pedro’s representatives in order to gauge his plans.
While Betis would not be able to match the financial package on offer from the others, they are hoping that a return to his home country and a chance to play in La Liga once again would prove enticing enough. Betis have managed to make a few big-name signings in recent years, including Nabil Fekir, Borja Iglesias, and Carles Alena on loan, so perhaps they can convince Pedro, too as they attempt to close the gap to the top teams in Spanish football.
Unfortunately for them, and all others like Qatar’s Xavi-managed Al Sadd, Pedro seems more inclined towards a move to AS Roma, though he has put all such decisions on the backburner until after the pandemic starts subsiding. But according to Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness), Roma are optimistic that an agreement can be reached.
One thing’s for sure, Pedro won’t be lacking for choice after the season.
