According to reports from a few days ago, Serie A club AS Roma had also (re)joined the chase for Chelsea’s Pedro Rodríguez, alongside crosstown rivals, SS Lazio. Roma had made a move for Pedro in January, but were shut down by Chelsea.
Now, Corriere dello Sport (via Football Italia) shed more light on the potential details of Roma’s intentions, which include three years at €3m-a-year plus bonuses for the soon-to-be free agent. This goes in line with earlier reports from Corriere dello Sport and Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness), which claimed that Roma’s offer for the 32-year-old winger is “already ready”.
There is competition for Pedro from outside Italy and Europe as well, with Qatar’s Al Sadd, currently managed by Pedro’s ex-teammate Xavi, frequently mentioned as a possible destination. Chances are, Pedro would be able to earn more outside of Europe — be that in Asia or America — and he has been seemingly keeping all options open.
Pedro still has the legs for a few more years at the top level, and it would be a surprise if he ended up going to a non-European league at this time.
