Real Madrid full-back Achraf Hakimi, currently on loan at Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund, has been turning heads all season, and several clubs all across Europe, including Chelsea, are reportedly interested in his signature.

But Hakimi is no hurry to decide his future, even as he keeps making headlines in the rumor mill. His current deal with Real Madrid run for two more years, through 2022.

His agent Alejandro Camano, will sit down with the relevant parties to discuss these matters eventually. Making sure that interest in his client remains high will only help him gain leverage in said talks.

“The contract with Real Madrid is still the one we negotiated in 2017 and that runs to June 2022. We’ll have to wait and see. After the coronavirus crisis is over, we’ll sit down with Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund to discuss the matter.”

Hakimi arrived at Dortmund in 2018 on a two-year loan deal, and that apparently includes a clause of first refusal, which grants them the opportunity to match any bid made by any of the teams interested in the 21-year-old.

Hakimi, who joined Real Madrid’s youth team at the age of 8, could of course also return home as well, to battle it out with other top class full-backs such as Marcelo, Ferland Mendy and Dani Carvajal for a starting spot. With the potential economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic as yet unknown, more teams could be starting to look inward for reinforcements.
