Napoli preparing contract offer, lowball bid for Chelsea left back Emerson — reports

Here we go again with De Laurentiis

With Chelsea linked to multiple left backs, but especially Alex Telles, at least one of our current two must leave. Based on most recent playing times, that might be Emerson Palmieri, who also has one year less left on his contract than Marcos Alonso.

Emerson has been steadily linked with Juventus and Inter Milan, but now Rai Sport and Area Napoli are claiming that Napoli are also interested the 25-year-old. They have reportedly prepared a contract offer of €3 million for five years and will start discussions with Chelsea soon.

However, just like Inter, Napoli are also expected to present a lowball offer of at most €20 million, which is what Chelsea paid for to AS Roma back in 2018 to get Emerson in the first place. Fortunately more clubs means more competition, so we might be able to create a mini-auction and drive that price up a bit.

Rai Sport claims that Marina Granovskaia has a good working relationship with her Napoli counterpart, Aurelio De Laurentiis (ed.note: despite appearances and multiple (un)successful transfer sagas to the contrary), so perhaps that will prove helpful.
