According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sempre Inter), Chelsea are interested in Atalanta’s left wing-back, Robin Gosens.
Gosens has been one of the stalwarts in Atalanta’s phenomenal 2019-20 season, with the Bergamo-based club scoring 70 goals in just 25 games and sitting 4th in the Serie A table. The 25-year-old has chipped in with 7 goals himself (as a wing-back!), to go with 5 assists in 22 league games.
This has led to the big clubs taking notice, including Chelsea as well as Inter Milan and Olympique Lyonnais all expressing interest.
#Atalanta pronta a un nuovo muro: blindati i top, solo #Gosens può andare https://t.co/Mwpzi6ytcu #serieA #premium

While Gosens is primary known for his attacking nous, he is also solid defensively, averaging 1.5 tackles and 1.2 interceptions per game this season. One aspect of his game that immediately stands out is his ability to retain possession. Gosens’ possession loss per game this season is just 1.3, compared to Emerson Palmieri’s 1.7 and Marcos Alonso’s 2.3.
Gosens’ current contract expires in 2022, so Atalanta may choose to sell in the next transfer window instead of letting him leave for a cheap price later. Lyon had a €25 million offer rejected in January, so it will take more than that amount to bring him to London. While Gosens has played most of his career as a wingback, he does have 71 appearances as a fullback, which would prove useful since ideally we’d have someone who can do both effectively (unlike our current situation at Chelsea).
Get it done please!
