Chelsea were reportedly at the front of the queue for the signature of Kays Ruiz-Atil, but it looks like the 17-year-old PSG prospect will not be coming to the blue side of London.
Reports earlier this week claimed that the player’s family were waiting for a “firm sign” from Chelsea, and had been doing so for a while now. According to Goal however, that sign, firm or otherwise, will not be forthcoming, with Chelsea making the decision to not sign the midfielder and informing his representatives of that decision as well.
There is no reason given for the club’s decision to pass on a highly rated prospect, and it’d be baseless to speculate.
So, Ruiz-Atil’s situation remains unchanged in Paris, with a contract expiring next summer (2021) and an impasse over negotiations and first-team pathways. Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund and Marseille have all been credited with an interest in the teenager, and it looks like he could end up at one of those clubs after Chelsea’s refusal.
Good luck to him wherever he lands next!
