Nnamdi Collins, 16, is not a name we’ve heard before, but that is set to change as at least three teams are vying for his attention, including his current employers, Borussia Dortmund, who want him to extend his contract beyond 2021.
But according to German tabloid Bild, Chelsea and Manchester City are also engaged in a “tug of war” over the “jewel” of the BVB academy, with the Blues edging that feat of proverbial strength at the moment. We’ve apparently been watching him for three years and are ready with a “multi-million” offer. Of course, last month it were City who were readying just such an offer to the tune of €2m or so.
It’s all pretty standard faire for a situation such as this, though that doesn’t necessarily mean that the interest isn’t real from our side or City’s. BVB are of course offering to fast-track his development.
Collins is a right-footed centre-back heralded as a “model athlete” thanks to his blazing speed — apparently just 0.1 seconds slower than Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the 30-meter dash. He is also the captain of the Germany U16 national team.
