According to report from Italian newspapers Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness) and Gazzetta dello Sport (via Caught Offside), Chelsea veteran winger Pedro is once again a target of Serie A club AS Roma.

The Giallorossi made similar overtures in January, but failed in their pursuit after Pedro was deemed an essential contingency plan for Chelsea — which turned out to be important after the injuries to Christian Pulisic and Callum Hudson-Odoi. In fact, Pedro had started five of Chelsea’s last seven matches before the suspension of the season.

Roma have since made a new approach to the 32-year-old veteran’s “entourage”, offering a next step in his career after his contract expires at the end of the season. They are hoping to use him as a replacement for on-loan Arsenal attacking midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who’s expected to return the Gunners for next season. To fill the spot, Roma could also look towards Borussia Dortmund spare part Mario Götze.

To land Pedro’s signature, Roma might have to beat out their main rivals, Lazio, who were recently linked as well. Previously, Pedro was also linked with Aston Villa, as well as teams in the USA’s MLS and Japan’s J-League.
