Everton ‘confident’ in beating Chelsea, Arsenal to Gabriel Magalhães — report

It was not too long ago that random rumors had Chelsea’s deal for Gabriel Magalhães as “almost complete”. But that doesn’t look to be the case in reality. It is in fact Everton who are in that position, set to complete a £30m transfer for the 22-year-old.

According to the Guardian, Everton are “confident” that the Lille center back, who has been linked with Arsenal as well, will be the first signing for Carlo Ancelotti in the next transfer window.

For Everton, the situation (or at least their belief in the outcome) is even better than at the end of last month, as they’ve apparently “made progress in their pursuit” since then. Meanwhile, the Chelsea trail has gone cold, with transfer rumors instead getting caught up elsewhere.

There is still plenty of time for this situation to change many times over before the next transfer window, but Gabriel may not be the signing we need anyway, so good luck to him and Everton.
