N’Golo Kanté’s been in the news recently, and the more turns he takes in it (and the rumor mill specifically), the more the noise amplifies, and the more likely it becomes that we start spotting a pattern that just might resemble or coagulate into something real.
Fortunately, here’s Goal’s Nizaar Kinsella to knock the world back onto its proper axis, and stop all this nonsense. At least for a few hours.
Kinsella claims that Kanté “remains keen” to stay at Chelsea, that he’s “settled in London”, and that the only way he’d leave at this point is “if he was told that Chelsea want to sell him”. Presumably, he has not been told anything of the sort.
While the report does claim that Barcelona might be of interest, Kanté is “unlikely to accept a back-up role”. (Though the highly unreliable Mundo Deportivo claim that Barca would want to rebuild their midfield around Kanté.)
In any case, with three years left on his club-record contract, Kanté’s unlikely to be going anywhere, regardless of what all the rumors might say. The 29-year-old midfielder has had a terrible time with injuries over the past 10-12 months, so hopefully we can put those behind us alongside all this chatter whenever football returns.
N'Golo Kante wants to stay at Chelsea first and foremost amid talk of a move to Spain. The big two in Spain would be his first choices but he would need to be told he is no longer wanted: https://t.co/5vflsZm7xV #CFC
