Although contract negotiations are still ongoing between Gianluigi Donnarumma and AC Milan hierarchy, the 21-year-old’s future appears to be farther away from the Rossoneri with each passing day. His contract expires in 2021 and due to that, along with the grim economic situation post-COVID-19 pandemic, Milan are not too optimistic about receiving a fee worthy of the young goalkeeper’s talents and could now be resigned to losing him for a cut-rate price (i.e. €25-30m).
Since Asmir Begović is no longer good enough for a top-four contender in the Serie A, AC Milan would need to find a replacement for Gigio. As per Gazzetta dello Sport (via Milan live), they have have expressed a desire to sign Udinese’s Juan Musso, who himself could be available for a cut-rate price of €15m. It’s worth noting that Juan Musso was linked to Chelsea as well recently.
AC Milan and Chelsea are not the only ones interested of course. Inter Milan have been linked as well, as they look for a long-term successor for Samir Handanović, who will be entering the final year of his contract at age 34.
This could all make for some interesting transfer dominoes whenever the transfer market does open again.
