Chelsea willing to give €8m/year to Donnarumma, but he wants to stay at Milan — report

The last time we heard about Gianluigi Donnarumma was back in February, when we learnt that he was struggling to reach an agreement with AC Milan over a contract extension. Like every half-decent rumor is supposed to do, it thus linked Chelsea to the 21-year-old, along with a whole host of other clubs.

More than a month later, there appears to be no progress on the extension front and as a result, Chelsea have been linked once again to the youngster, this time by Sportitalia journalist, Alessandro Jacobone.

As per the tweet, Chelsea are willing to offer €8m per year plus bonuses to Donnarumma along with a 5-year contract to entice him to come to London (that’s €2m more than he currently makes). However, Gigio still wants to continue with the Milan project. His contract expires in 2021, so he may be available for a “discounted” price of €30m if reports are to be believed. However, for any move to happen, Donnarumma must decide himself that he wants a change of clubs, else it’s more likely than not that he and the Milan hierarchy will reach a compromise on the terms of the new contract.

So, in the end, nothing’s changed though it appears that Chelsea may be willing to work with Mino Raiola after all. Either that, or Raiola’s just doing his thing to get Gigio a new contract.
