According to a report from Portuguese newspaper A Bola (via Sport Witness), Porto are the latest club to join the race for young full back Marc Cucurella, who’s also been linked with Chelsea.
Cucurella has been on loan from Barcelona at fellow La Liga club Getafe since the beginning of the season, becoming their go-to left midfielder this year ahead of Chelsea loanee Kenedy. Getafe have reportedly already exercised their €6m buy-option on the the 21-year-old, though he’s not expected to last long on their books even if their potential gains will be limited by a €25m release clause and a 40% sell-on that will funnel profits back to Barca.
His price is low enough in this market — assuming “this” market still exists on the other side of the COVID-19 pandemic — to attract teams from clubs all around Europe, such as Napoli, Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Mönchengladbach and of course, Chelsea. And Porto is now also in the mix, as they fear they might lose left-back Alex Telles to ... Chelsea.
