Ed.note: surprise, surprise, the Manuel Neuer speculation in the tabloids is utter nonsense. Now, here’s Fellipe with the weather.
According to a report from Goal (and other places like Sky Deutschland), Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer is not at all interested in leaving Bayern Munich — and joining Chelsea in the process.
There’s been some chatter to the contrary due to his ongoing contract situation — he will have one year left on his contract after this season — but his plans do not include leaving anytime soon. One imagines they’re going to have to wheel him out at some point in the future to actually get him to leave. Or maybe give the job to another Schalke 04 academy product, Alexander Nübel.
Current Bayern caretaker coach, and surely future permanent appointee, Hansi Flick apparently still regards Neuer as his No.1 for the goalkeeping position, so the 34-year-old probably has nothing to worry about in that regard.
Given the current state of the (football) world, there’s little hurry in conducting any sort of negotiations — Chelsea are doing the same (by not doing anything) — but whenever we do pick things back up, Neuer will most likely be guarding the same net he’s been guarding for most of the past decade.
