Despite Jorginho being a mainstay under Super Frank Lampard, getting elevated to Vice-captain, even, his future beyond the next transfer window is uncertain, especially if we go by his agent’s words.

Maurizio Sarri, the man who had a large role in Jorginho coming to Chelsea in the first place, would probably love to bring him to his current club, Juventus, since Miralem Pjanić hasn’t quite convinced in the regista position. It’s worth remembering that Chelsea were once interested in Pjanić (before he signed a new contract with Juventus and before Sarri’s Chelsea signed Jorginho).

Taking advantage of this situation in classic style, the rumor mill has conjured up a scenario involving Jorginho, Miralem Pjanić, and a few other clubs just for good measure!

According to Italy-based TV network, 7 Gold (via Area Napoli), Sarri is more than happy to send Pjanić the other way if it helps him acquire his “favorite son”, Jorginho. Pjanić’s disappointing campaign and Sarri’s familiarity with Jorginho are the unsurprising motivations behind this potential transfer. The report claims that more details will emerge in the coming weeks.

This story has been taken up by other outlets who have added their own tidbits to it. Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness) claim that Pjanić is no longer indispensable to the Old Lady, and they would happily let him go if the price is right. Chelsea, Manchester City, PSG, Barcelona and Real Madrid are all supposedly interested, and there is even mention of a hypothetical mini-auction for the 29-year-old midfielder’s services in the summer.

At his peak Pjanić was one of the best metronomic midfielders in the world, but he’s going to be on the wrong side of 30 soon, and that doesn’t bode well for contract negotiations with Chelsea. While his passing abilities were never in doubt, Miralem seems even more defensively suspect than Jorginho, and that is an immediate red-flag for a player who is expected to play as a deep midfielder. And lastly, with the rise of Billy GOATGilmour (who looks like the real deal and could possibly develop into a more complete midfielder than either Jorginho or Pjanić), a deep-lying midfielder should be last on the priority list for Chelsea.
