According to the Manchester Evening News, Chelsea are the biggest rivals to Manchester United for the signature of Birmingham wonderkid Jude Bellingham. Borussia Dortmund are in the picture as well.
The 16-year-old has taken the Championship by storm this season. Despite his young age, he’s already made 32 appearances for Birmingham City, with four goals and two assists to boot.
His talents have drawn attention from major clubs around Europe, and will also draw a major figure for any interested team in picking him up. Birmingham are reportedly ready to demand at least £50 million for the youngster.
For now, nothing is certain. Dortmund appeared the likeliest destination for Bellingham just a few days ago, but it seems that this was all transfer window blabber due to an encounter between the German club and the player’s father, who is also his agent. Bellingham had a training ground visit with United this week, while Chelsea have been tracking him for quite some time.
At the end of the day, what will matter will be who meets Birmingham’s demands, and who offers Bellingham the best options in financial and career terms. Stay tuned.
