Andre Onana may have given up four goals on his Stamford Bridge debut, but that hasn’t stopped him from believing “that Stamford Bridge can be the perfect place for him to establish himself in the English game”.
That’s the line from Nizaar Kinsella for Goal, in a report that adds Ajax Amsterdam’s sure to be in-demand goalkeeper to the list of potential targets for Chelsea as we explore the possibilities of life beyond Kepa.
The 23-year-old former Barcelona prospect is expected to generate plenty of interest this summer — as Ajax’s best players tend to do every summer — and as he will have two years left on his contract still, Ajax would surely demand a pretty penny to kick off the bidding war. Still, Onana’s final transfer fee probably would not break Kepa’s world record of €80m, so if we were to give up on that gamble, our next one would at least be a little bit lower.
Whatever Chelsea end up doing, Kinsella’s report adds that Lampard, technical director advisor Petr Cech, and the long-time goalkeeper coach and advisor Christophe Lollichon will all be involved in the final decision, so at least we’ve got the right people working on this.
Chelsea are still deciding on the Kepa but Andre Onana would be available in the summer and would be interested in replacing the Blues no1. https://t.co/h5gB7mnP9f #CFC
