Jadon Sancho is expected one to be one of the hottest, if not the hottest transfer target in the upcoming summer transfer window, and teams are already jostling for positions to be front and center for the 19-year-old budding superstar. Elbows out, side-to-side, as you do.
Who will have the sharpest elbows? That remains to be seen.
Manchester United (fans) are convinced they’re the leading candidate at the moment (just as Chelsea fans were not too long ago), and they certainly appear to have the upper hand in the rumor mill.
But what’s this? Bah gawd, is that Jürgen Klopp’s music??
Klopp’s personal connections to Borussia Dortmund make his Liverpool a most obvious candidate for Sancho’s eventual landing place back in England, but the league leaders have been playing it mostly low-key so far. But not anymore, at least not if the Daily Mail are to be believed! They claim that “Liverpool have informed Borrusia Dortmund of their desire to sign Jadon Sancho this summer”.
To which BVB presumably replied, “the bidding starts at £100m; here’s your paddle; good luck.”
Dortmund’s £100m asking price seems to be hitting the sweet spot, striking the right balance of filtering out also-rans but ensuring that the four obvious contestants all stay in the bidding. Who will emerge victorious among Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, and Chelsea? Only time will tell.
