Chelsea set for further Jérémie Boga talks with Sassuolo — report

Will the reunion happen?

According to Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport (via Inside Futbol), Chelsea and Sassuolo are set for further discussions over the future of Jérémie Boga.

Last week, Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali confirmed that Chelsea have a buyback option for the former Blues prospect, and that the two teams had already discussed a potential summer move. Now, with Sassuolo starting to plan for the summer, they apparently want a bit more clarity as to Chelsea’s intentions. (Ed.note: you mean you don’t have to leave all this for Transfer Deadline Day? Inconceivable!)

The 23-year-old dribble-happy Boga was a Chelsea player for almost ten years, arriving as a youth player from ASPTT Marseille in 2009 before leaving the club two summers ago in 2018. Following his debut season at Sassuolo, when he scored three times, he’s taken his level of play up a notch, with 7 goals already in just 23 Serie A matches — including several match-winning performances, such as the one over the weekend.

Boga, who will have two years left on his contract, is expected to garner plenty of interest in the transfer window. Chelsea have the inside track, should we choose to go for it.
