The Premier League champions-elect reportedly had a €35m bid rejected for the Nigeria international in January, with the Yellow Submarine holding our for his full buyout clause of €65m. With a contract good through 2023, they would’ve had no reason to rush a sale after all.
France Football (via GFFN) explain that Liverpool didn’t want to go higher than that since they’re already well-stocked, which could open opportunities for others.
