Inter Milan getting linked with Marcos Alonso — and Emerson Palmieri — has become a regular theme since former Chelsea boss, Antonio Conte took over at the Serie A club, but obviously a transfer has never actually materialized.
And yet, here we go again, just in case something does pan out eventually, this time thanks to Sky Italia (via Sempre Inter), who claim that Alonso is one possible target for the Nerazzurri in the upcoming January transfer window.
In an ideal world, Inter would finally pay us a respectable fee for Alonso’s services, and the 29-year-old would be on his merry way to Italy. But things are never simple when dealing with Inter, and any funds that they would have available will also be dependent on the costs for a new midfielder and a striker that they’re targeting (who are unlikely to be N’Golo Kanté and Olivier Giroud, for what it’s worth).
Along with Inter, Atlético Madrid have also been recently (re-)linked with a move for Alonso, and Corriere dello Sport have further reinforced those rumors, claiming that Alonso will leave next month, returning to his native country to play for Diego Simeone on a six-month loan.
Where Alonso might end up by the end of January is still up for guesses at this point, but we can almost be certain that it won’t be Chelsea. (Or can we?)
