Marcos Alonso once again joins Emerson on Inter Milan’s winter wishlist — report

New window, same names

After being linked (once again) with Emerson Palmieri, it would appear that Inter Milan are also (still) potentially interested in signing Marcos Alonso as well. According to Corriere dello Sport, both Chelsea left backs, as well as Barcelona’s Junior Firpo, are on Inter’s wishlist for the winter transfer window.

Left wing-back was one of the areas the Nerazzurri failed to strengthen this past summer, with Ashley Young the only semi-natural option at the position and Ivan Perišić filling in as needed. Should they wish to rectify this issue when the transfer market opens in January, they will probably (once again) look for a free or a paid-loan (sigh!) for one of the aforementioned players.

Emerson and Alonso both have found minutes hard to come by this season, with the latter being pseudo-ostracized since his fallout with Frank Lampard, and the former having to make to with scraps while backing up clear first-choice Ben Chilwell. That Chelsea have been knocked out of the Carabao Cup fairly early this season doesn’t help their situations either.

Neither Alonso nor Emerson appear to have a long-term future with the Blues, so letting one of them leave in January (preferably not on loan) could be a welcome way to trim the bloated squad.
