The transfer window slammed shut in most major European leagues last night, but one of the few exceptions to that deadline is the Portuguese Primeira Liga, where the window is open for almost three more weeks, until the 25th.
And that’s a good thing as we’re still waiting for any official confirmation of young defender Malang Sarr’s loan move to Porto, which was supposed to be subject to a medical yesterday, followed soon after by an announcement.
But perhaps part of the delay is Porto’s latest consideration for Chelsea left back Emerson, which is something that the Telegraph’s Matt Law has hinted at this morning.
Not sure whether this has been anywhere else (apols if it has) but I'm told Malang Sarr could move in loan to Porto, who have also considered Emerson but that's less likely. #cfc— Matt Law (@Matt_Law_DT) October 6, 2020
Porto are in need of a left back after agreeing to sell Alex Telles — finally; no more Chelsea rumors! — to Manchester United, and while they supposedly were hoping to use Sarr there (as well), that’s not his best position.
It would perhaps make much more sense for Porto to try to bring in Emerson instead (or in addition to Sarr), no? Certainly something to consider...
